Year 9 expansion and extended nursery provision

Growing with your family at Northbourne Park School

More flexibility for Nursery. A longer journey for your child.

We’re delighted to share two exciting developments at Northbourne Park School that reflect our commitment to supporting families at every stage of their child’s education.

  • Squirrels Nursery will now be open 48 weeks of the year from September 2026
  • Northbourne Park School is expanding to include Year 9 from September 2027, with day and boarding places available

Together, these changes mean greater flexibility for parents and a stronger, more continuous educational journey for every child.

A nursery that works for working families

We understand how important reliable, high-quality childcare is. That’s why our Nursery will now be open for 48 weeks of the year from September 2026, offering greater consistency and support for working families.

What this means for you:

  • Extended availability across the year, with 15-hour and 30-hour funded places
  • Fewer disruptions for your child during school holidays
  • Continued high-quality care in a nurturing and ambitious early years environment
  • Greater flexibility to suit family routines

Your child will continue to benefit from the same warm, supportive setting and staff — now with a schedule that works even better for you!

Continuing the journey: Northbourne Park extends to Year 9

We are proud to be extending our school to include Year 9, giving pupils the opportunity to continue their education in the environment they know and love.

Why this matters:

  • Continuity: no need to transition to a new school at the end of Year 8

  • Confidence: children thrive where they feel known and supported

  • Preparation: a strong foundation for GCSE success, building on the strong foundations established in Years 7 and 8

Year 9 is a crucial stage in a child’s academic and personal development, and we are excited to guide our pupils through this important year and beyond, with plans to open Year 10 and Year 11 in subsequent years.

What Year 9 will offer

Our Year 9 curriculum is designed to challenge, inspire, and prepare pupils for the next stage of their education.

  • A broad and balanced academic programme and small class sizes

  • Specialist subject teaching, extending the school's excellent language learning, sport, drama and music provision

  • Outdoor learning opportunities

  • Preparation for GCSE pathways

  • Continued focus on wellbeing and personal development

Pupils will grow in independence while remaining supported by our strong pastoral care.

Support that grows with your child

From Squirrels Nursery through to Year 9, Northbourne Park School provides a consistent, nurturing environment where every child is known as an individual.

  • Experienced and dedicated staff

  • Strong relationships between pupils and teachers

  • A focus on both academic achievement and personal development

Looking ahead

These developments mark an exciting new chapter for Northbourne Park School. Whether your child is just starting their journey in Nursery or you are looking ahead to Year 9, we are here to support them every step of the way.
