Overnight Camps

Our Saturday, lessons lead towards a Senior Camp (Years 7, 8 and 5e) and an Intermediate Camp (Years 5 and 6, 6e), in which the children spend a night out under the survival shelters that they have constructed. Each year we try to base the camp around an exciting scenario. These are some examples, although each year we like an element of surprise.

Intermediate Camp

The Intermediate camp in 2013, based around a scenario of Northbourne Park’s Warthogs School of Wizardry, offered a special scholarship to forty Muggles, the first for over 400 years, in A Very Magical Sleepover.  The intermediate pupils tested their senses and ingenuity in a series of teamwork challenges  including Care of Mythical Creatures, a class with real-life owls, discovering about habitat and feeding, an introduction to Quidditch, a Charms Class on fire-making, Cauldron Cooking and Feast, O.W.L exam challenges, and an evening under the stars in the Forbidden Forest.

Senior Camp

The Senior camp in 2013 was based around a scenario of a Top Secret spy Mission "Operation Night Hawk”. In order to complete the 4 missions, pupils worked in teams showing excellent leadership skills to decipher encrypted letters, crack codes and complete 4 challenges. This was an opportunity for the children to put into practice what they had learnt in their leadership lessons:

Knots and lashings
Team building and communication
Constructing a shelter
Fire lighting and construction
Cooking on an open fire evening meal and breakfast
“A once in a lifetime experience… fantastic and very fun.” Roshan (Yr 8)
