Professor Ben Hutchinson - 
Chair of Education Committee

Ben Hutchinson is Professor of European Literature at the University of Kent. Having completed his D.Phil at the University of Oxford, he spent two years as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Germany before coming to Canterbury in 2007. A Philip Leverhulme Prize winner and Fellow of the Academy of Europe, he has published numerous books in several languages, including most recently Comparative Literature: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2018) and The Midlife Mind (Reaktion, 2020). He also writes for newspapers such as the Times Literary Supplement, the Observer, and the Literary Review. When not writing or professing, he can be found running or hiking.

His two boys are currently at NPS, and his wife is Head of Modern Foreign Languages.
