Do you aspire to be a strategic leader and help shape the future of Northbourne Park School?

Applicants are now being sought to join the Northbourne Park School’s Board of Governors for a four-year term of office.

The School:

Northbourne Park School is a successful and thriving school providing outstanding education and pastoral care for children 0-13 years old. Long established and nestled in the beautiful East Kent countryside close to Deal, it provides a family-like atmosphere with small class sizes where teachers get to know the pupils well.

The school achieves top academic results both for the Kent Grammar School Test and Scholarships to Senior Schools, and was rated excellent in the 2017 ISI inspection. It delivers bespoke learning to ensure every child reaches their potential. The school’s buildings, park and woodland provide wonderful spaces for children to enjoy their educational journey, whether it is playing in the woods, camping out, following the pioneering Outdoor Education programme or developing a strong interest in their natural surroundings.

The Opportunity:

We are looking to appoint governors to join an enthusiastic, committed Board. This is an interesting and exciting opportunity to be involved in the strategic and operational oversight of Northbourne Park School as it embarks on an exciting development programme.

As a Governor you will be involved in the strategic and operational development of our successful and thriving school. We would be particularly keen to welcome applications from those who have professional experience in the following areas: Audit and Finance; Education; Estates; Law; Creative and Performing Arts, Fundraising or Board level management experience.

As a member of our board, you will be accountable to the school community, through setting the strategic direction and monitoring progress towards those goals. Governors support this by attending regular meetings (six times a year with some others as required for particular projects) and contribute by applying your knowledge and skills in guiding, questioning and challenging. Governor appointments are based on commitment, enthusiasm, professional skills and an ability to contribute at a strategic level.

Volunteering as a school governor is a challenging but rewarding role. As part of the governing board, you’ll:

• work collaboratively with people from different professional backgrounds, challenging your own perspective and broadening your network

• gain experience outside of your regular work and learn skills you can apply in other settings

If you are interested in applying please contact the Chair of Governors, Susie Barter on sbarter@northbournepark.com. Applications must be received by Friday 3rd February 2023.
