We work hard to help the children feel at home while boarding with us. Our house parents, Joe and Karen Duffy head up our team of adults looking after the children – they also have their own children at the school. They are available to care for the children and to keep an eye on behaviour!
The boarding team also includes a Matron who has first aid training and a number of other full time staff. Our ANZAC assistants also help around the boarding houses in the evening and are wonderful with the children. There’s always someone for a child to turn to at any time of day or night.
Our matron looks after the health of all the children. If they are unwell, they are cared for by Matron in the sick bay and parents are notified in the event of any illness. Parents are encouraged to participate fully and are very much involved in the life of the school. The relationship between parents, children and the school is all important and should at all times be supportive and informative – a shared responsibility. Boarders are allowed to use their mobile phones to contact families in the evening and there is also regular email communication between families and the boarding parents.
