Inspections

The school is regularly inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) which monitors standards of care and education. Inspections take place approximately every 6 years and our last inspection was in November 2004.

We are also inspected by OfSted who have recently taken on the role formerly performed by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCi). The last CSCi inspection was carried out in February 2005 with a follow up in 2006 just prior to the OfSted take over.

The key findings of the latest ISI report are summarised below and extracts provided on the attached pdf document. For more information on inspections, please contact the school office on 01304 611215.

Overall summary

At Northbourne Park School, the pupils’ attainment, progress, quality of learning and behaviour are all good and the quality of teaching is good. The school has a unique character. It educates two classes of French pupils in sixieme and cinquieme in addition to Years 7 and 8, and a distinctive leadership course is provided for pupils from Year 4 upwards. The pupils’ personal development is a strength and parents are very strongly supportive. The school has few weaknesses, though the quality of strategic planning should be improved and steps need to be taken to meet a number of regulatory requirements.
