Northbourne Park as a family

At Northbourne Park we see ourselves as a family – our setting in the former Northbourne family home encourages this. We place a great deal of emphasis on instilling a sense of care and respect for the needs of others both within and outside the school. All children in the Senior School are allocated a “house” which helps foster caring and supportive friendships across age groups and nationalities. Points allocated for good and bad behaviour during the term and inter-house sports and other activities encourage a spirit of teamwork and competition which help the child develop as an individual during their time here.

We have a structured environment to give the children security in knowing what is expected of them but build in flexibility to meet their needs as well. Our caring staff develop close relations with all the children and the presence of form tutors for each class and our numerous support and boarding staff ensure that the pastoral needs of each child are met at all times.

Developing the individual

Your child is an individual with different skills, talents and interests. We work hard to develop the full potential of each child and to give them the independence and confidence to face the next stage of education. What we are not is a mass production school – we are not a feeder school to one particular senior school. In this way we can help prepare your child for the best school that is right for them, taking their individual strengths and needs into account.

Christian foundation

The school is officially designated as one with a religious character. The values and ethos we seek to embrace at Northbourne Park are drawn from the Christian Gospel. We have daily assemblies, led by staff or the children themselves, or sometimes by an invited speaker. On Sundays, the boarders attend the school chapel with services led by visiting clergy.
